Our client, who specialises in the defence industry, is looking for a Project Manager/Engineer in the defence industry or similar industry who can start as soon as possible, or immediately, at their offices in Cape Town.

The candidate MUST have a degree in mechanical, electronical or industrial engineering and a project management qualification to apply 

The Role 

• Core responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Developing project plans in consultation with various stakeholders and departments
• Regular reporting on the status of projects
• Supporting continuous improvement of the projects’ management system
• Working with teams to execute projects and ensuring that all projects are on track and within budget
• Assisting with timeline development, ensuring that production is on schedule and offering guidance to improve progress
• Coordinating project management activities, resources, equipment and information
• Breaking projects into doable actions 
• Assisting with the preparation of budgets
• Analysing risks and opportunities
• Overseeing the project procurement management
• Monitoring project progress and informing the company of any issues that arise
• Acting as the point of contact and communicating project status to all participants
• Working closely with the project manager and technical team
• Liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve any problems
• Collaborating with the purchasing and production departments

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 
• Degree in mechanical, electronical or industrial engineering
• project management qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the engineering, electronics and telecommunications industries
• Proven work experience as a project manager or similar role.
• An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
• Strong working knowledge in reading and application of technical drawings Auto CAD hands-on experience with project management tools
• Sciforma is advantageous
• Must have your own vehicle with a valid driver’s licence
• Fully-bilingual (non-negotiable)
