Our client is looking for a chief information officer (CIO). As the CIO you will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s technology vision, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure and innovative fintech solutions. You will lead the technology and data teams, overseeing the development of cutting-edge financial platforms and infrastructure. Your role involves strategic planning, driving digital transformation, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a high-performance technology culture.
The Role
Core responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement the company’s technology strategy to align with business objectives and growth plans
- Drive innovation in fintech solutions, ensuring the company remains a market leader in digital financial services
- Oversee the architecture, development and deployment of scalable, high-performance and secure technology solutions
- Identify emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on the business
- Lead the end-to-end technology development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment
- Oversee the design, security and scalability of the company’s financial products and services
- Drive agile and DevSecOps best practices to enhance software development efficiency
- Ensure the successful integration of APls, third-party financial services and cloud-based infrastructures
- Ensure that the company’s technology infrastructure complies with industry regulations (POPIA, ISO27001, GDPR, PCI— DSS, etc.
- Implement robust cybersecurity frameworks to safeguard data and mitigate risks
- Establish policies and best practices for data governance, system security and IT risk management
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
- Oversee IT infrastructure, cloud solutions and enterprise architecture to ensure efficiency and scalability
- Optimise system performance, data storage and processing to support business intelligence and analytics
- Lead the adoption of Al, machine learning, blockchain and other emerging technologies
- Ensure seamless integration of financial services through API-driven architectures
- Build and mentor a high-performing technology team made up of software engineers, data scientists and IT professionals
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous learning within the technology department
- Work closely with the executive leadership team to align technology initiatives to business goals
- Engage with stakeholders, including investors, regulators and customers, to communicate the company’s technology vision
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, as well as an DBA
- At least ten years’ experience in technology leadership roles, preferably in fintech or financial services
- Proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation initiativesExperience in managing software development teams and enterprise IT infrastructures
- Proven ability to lead technology teams and engage with executives, investors and regulators
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Certification in cloud computing, Agile methodologies and/or cybersecurity is a plus
Skills
- Ability to define and implement technology roadmaps that align with business objectives
- Strong background in cybersecurity, data governance and regulatory compliance
- Strong background in software engineering, system architecture and Agile methodologies
- Understanding of fintech, financial services and the competitive landscape
- Knowledge of AI, blockchain and big data analytics is advantageous
